PASTOR HILDE LORENZ      Allow me to introduce myself.
I began my life caring for others as a social worker and for 25 years worked for Social and Family Services, Simcoe County and London Distress Centre.  In 1997 I received God’s call to ordained ministry.  Following my theological studies at Waterloo Lutheran Seminary; I began ministry as a Chaplain at the University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario.
In 2008 I heard the call to “Go West, young girl. Go West!”  For the past 6 years I have pastored the congregation of Shepherd of the Hills in Bowness.
Bowness is a unique community and in a special way a microcosm of the City of Calgary with a blend of rich and poor, married and singles, students and labourers, professionals and retirees.  Serving in Bowness lets one sense the pulse of the City with its drive, issues and concerns.
My real joy in ministry is reaching out to those who no longer find the church meaningful nor see the value of the Christian message.  Our goal at Shepherd of the Hills is to truly be a “welcoming community of faith for everyone.”
My vision is that the church be an enduring source of Godʼs light leading people to the knowledge of Christʼs love and healing.
Together my husband Charles and I have three adult children; two living in Calgary, the third in Kentucky, and four beautiful grandchildren.  Charles and I are currently “babysitting” our daughter’s 13 year old dog while she and her family are on sabbatical in France.
